by Kathy Feist-Vescovi

I feel very honored to have three new columns in JAM.

Juanita Moore of the American Jazz Museum writes about the numerous events happening at the museum, the Gem, and the Blue Room in her column “Off the Vine.” Check out the Fascinatin' Rhythm Gala fundraiser where Nancy Wilson and Abbey Lincoln will be honored.

Chuck Haddix of the Marr Sound Archives (and the Friday and Saturday Night Fish Fry DJ on KCUR) will write a column called “News from the Archives.” Chuck is a fascinating storyteller and historian. I can't wait to see more from him.

The JAM staff has put together a column called “Hear and There.” It includes a number of small reviews of live performances around town. We felt this was a great way to introduce new talent and keep everyone abreast with what's out there. I especially have Roger Atkinson to thank. He is a consummate jazz supporter.

Finally, I cannot say enough for the JAM staff that Mike Metheny has left me. Our writers are volunteers who put in a lot of work. Their passion for jazz surpasses the norm, and I feel lucky to have them on board.
