On
August 15, KC jazz all-stars Hal Melia, Josh Sclar
and Ahmad Alaadeen (front, left to right) entertained a
full house at the Grand Emporium. Providing stellar backup were
Tommy Ruskin (drums), Gerald Spaits (bass) and Roger
Wilder (piano). The evening was a fundraiser for this magazine
which, like many jazz-related entities in recent months, has known
