When Legends Meet
On June 21, photographer Evie Quarles was in the right place at the right time for this classic freeze frame at the Blue Room. The song was "I Believe," and the duo consisted of veteran singer and entertainer Myra Taylor and baseball legend/longtime Taylor friend Buck O'Neil. It was one of those memorable had-to-be-there moments.

Crawlin' For KC Jazz & Blues

June 27, 2002 -- Trumpeter George Robinson leads the band at Harling's, one of 22 clubs on the 2002 Jazz Lover's Pub Crawl. It was a picture-perfect summer evening with a wide variety of KC sounds and plenty of happy crawlers. (Photo by Jim Wright)

Good Luck, Todd!

Portland's gain is Kansas City's loss. KC-based since '89, drummer Todd Strait, pictured above with fellow PBT mates Bob Bowman (left) and Paul Smith (center), is planting new roots out west. Todd tells us he will be back from time to time (see "Correspondence"), but we're sure it won't be nearly enough. Best wishes from JAM and the KC Jazz Ambassadors to a worldclass musician and prince of a guy. (photo: PBT)
