And the Winner Is...
At the recent round of the Miles Davis Trumpet Competition held at UMKC on March 11, trumpeter Robert Randolph (pictured) was selected by judges to advance to the finals in May in St. Louis (see JAM, February/March 2001). The sponsors for this regional competition were Down Beat magazine, Times Up Productions and the Kansas City Jazz Ambassadors.
